Alekseyeva calls for probe into Magnitsky case
Interfax
17 November 2010 – Human rights activists are afraid the case involving the death of Hermitage Capital lawyer Sergei Magnitsky in a detention facility will not be investigated.
“Magnitsky’s death drew noticeable reaction from the media, which was joined by President Medvedev. It seemed to me a guarantee of a prompt and thorough investigation. However, the press campaign has now calmed down. We are getting the impression that the Magnitsky case will soon be brushed under the carpet,” Moscow Helsinki Group Chairman Lyudmila Alekseyeva told a press conference in the central office of Interfax on Tuesday.
Alekseyeva said Magnitsky was kept in a detention facility despite the fact that he was a suspect in an economic crime and did not receive any treatment for his pancreatitis.
“I don’t think they wanted to kill him. They wanted him to recant evidence. He revealed a 5.4 billion rubles theft from the budget and named names and wrote about it,” Alekseyeva said.
Alekseyeva said the working group of the presidential council on civil society institutions and human rights, which is in charge of the Magnitsky case, is collecting materials and submitting them to the president.
“We do what we can and sometimes we ask you [the president] to make legislative amendments to ensure that everyone responsible for Magnitsky’s death be punished and that the circumstances that led to that [his death] not happen again,” Alekseyeva said. займ на карту без отказов круглосуточно unshaven girl https://zp-pdl.com/online-payday-loans-cash-advances.php https://zp-pdl.com/best-payday-loans.php hairy girl
