Investigative Committee chief Bastrykin would be honored to be put on Magnitsky list

Russian Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin says he would be honored to be included in the so-called ‘Magnitsky list’, i.e. a list of Russian officials the U.S. sees as responsible for human rights abuses, whom Washington plans to deny entry to the country.

“The U.S. State Department, president and Congress are coordinating the Magnitsky list, which should be published on April 13, and your humble servant is also under consideration concerning the shelf I should be placed on there. I’ve said through the media that I would treat it as great honor to be included in this list,” Bastrykin said at a student conference in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.
The Investigative Committee did not investigate an embezzlement case related to Sergei Magnitsky, he said.
“This case is being investigated by the Interior Ministry Investigative Department. We investigated Magnitsky’s death, and we forwarded this case to a court. It is another matter that the statute of limitations expired in relation to the doctor, and a court acquitted the prison administration chief.
