60 Russians banned from entering UK over Magnitsky case
British Home Secretary Theresa May has sent a list o f 60 Russian citizens barred from entering Great Britain in connection with the Magnitsky case, London’s Sunday Times newspaper reported.
On the ‘blacklist’ are judges, police officers and the prosecutor’s office.
Minister for Immigration Damian Green reported about the details of the blacklist in a letter to a British parliament member. In the letter, the minister said the list of 60 officials compiled by the U.S. Congress committee was sent to the British embassy in Moscow. It will be applied when U.K. visa appliations are considered, Green noted.
The British embassy in Moscow gives no comments so far on the information.

Doctors charged over Magnitsky`s death
Russia’s Investigative Committee has charged two doctors in connection with the pre-trial detention death of lawyer Sergei Magnitsky, official spokesman for the Committee, Vladimir Markin, said. He added that a direct link was found between Magnitsky`s death and the actions of the doctors. New hearings are scheduled for August 24th.
Chief physician for the Butyrskaya prison Larisa Litvinova is charged with causing death by negligence. Dmitry Kratov, the deputy director of the prison, is charged with carelessness. If found guilty, both may face from three to five years prison.

Panels probe Yukos and Magnitsky cases
The cases of Yukos and Magnitsky came into the public focus again over the week as experts of the European Court of Human Rights discussed the trials of Khodorkovsky and Lebedev and Russia’s Prosecutor-General probed the death of Hermitage Capital lawyer Sergei Magnitsky. And a panel at the Russian president’s Human Rights Commission is currently working on a report to shed more light on these high-profile cases.
According to a report published by the European Court of Human Rights, the trial against former Yukos chief Mikhail Khodorkovsky was not politically motivated.
In 2005 Mikhail Khodorkovsky and his business partner Platon Lebedev were sentenced to eight years in prison for embezzlement and tax evasion. In spring 2009 they faced another trial on charges of stealing oil and money-laundering. In December 2010, they were sentenced to 13.5 years in prison but the term was cut by one year later. In accordance with the court’s final sentence, the two will get out of prison in 2016.

Investigation into Magnitsky’s case continues
Russia’s Prosecutor General has found no violations on the part of the investigator, who handled the case of Sergei Magnitsky, a spokesman for Russia’s Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin, said on Monday. At the request of Russia’s Investigative Committee, the Office of the Prosecutor General checked the legality of actions, taken by the investigators regarding the Hermitage Capital Investment Fund worker Sergei Magnitsky.
Lawyer Sergei Magnitsky was accused of tax evasion regarding his revenues from the work of the companies belonging to the investment fund. According to the investigators, the Hermitage Capital Investment Fund and the Firestone Duncan Consulting Firm, where Magnitsky headed the Tax and Audit Department, created a scheme of tax evasion with the use of a ramified network of branch companies. As a result, more than 5 billion roubles were stolen.
