Enforced Isolation from Family
Below are examples of the repeated requests of Sergei Magnitsky to see his wife, young children, mother and other family members while in detention – all of which were denied by Oleg Silchenko as “inexpedient.” Silchenko even denied Magnitsky’s request to speak with his 8 year-old son by telephone.

- Summary Refusal by Interior Ministry Investigator Oleg Silchenko of Magnitsky’s request to speak with his 8 year-old son by telephone as it would be “inexpedient” due to the young age of the boy (14 September 2009)
- Summary Refusal by Interior Ministry Investigator Oleg Silchenko off Magnitsky’s request to see his wife and mother as it would be “inexpedient” and that such access would negatively impact the investigation given its current status (30 September 2009)
For so long as Magnitsky would not recant his testimony against the Untouchables and the theft of $230 million from the Russian state, he would be cruelly denied contact with his family.
